YMCA Sport – Joy of Movement for Everyone
YMCA Sport offers accessible, welcoming and community-based physical activities for all ages – from children and families to adults and seniors. Our goal is to promote physical, mental and social well-being through movement, while creating a safe environment where everyone can participate at their own level.
Our activities focus on joy, well-being, inclusion, equality and community. No matter your age, background or previous experience, there is a place for you at YMCA Sport.
Our activities include:
- Family Activities – Fun movement, games and quality time together for children and their families.
- SporttiLiikkari – Versatile physical activities for preschool-aged children, developing motor skills, confidence and the joy of movement.
- 7-10-vuotiaat – A relaxed ball sports group for school-aged children. Participants practise different ball games, movement skills and teamwork through games and play.
- Sportti MIX – A varied sports group combining games, ball sports, movement skills and fun challenges. Children also get to influence what activities the group does.
- Voimastartti for Adults – A low-threshold introduction to strength training. Learn basic movements and safe training techniques in a supportive environment.
- Voimaa vuosille 60+ – Exercise for adults over 60, focusing on strength, balance, mobility, endurance and maintaining everyday functional ability.

Financial Support for Children’s Activities
We want every child to have the opportunity to take part in sports and enjoy physical activity, regardless of their family’s financial situation.
Families experiencing financial difficulties can apply for support for YMCA Tampere children’s activities, including Sporttiliikkari, Tähtiliikkari and Palloiluhöntsy. If approved, the child can receive a free place in the activity group for one season.
Support is intended primarily for families whose financial situation would otherwise make participation difficult or impossible. Applications are considered individually, and a limited number of supported places are available.
Applying is simple and confidential. A parent or guardian completes a short application describing the family’s situation and need for support.
Financial circumstances should not prevent a child from moving, learning new skills, making friends and being part of a group.
Registration is binding.
Registration can be cancelled free of charge by the 25th day of the month in which you registered by email: miia.lindstrom@ymca.fi.
You can stop participating by notifying us by email at miia.lindstrom@ymca.fi. There is a one-month notice period for cancellation.
